Summer is well upon us with mega heatwaves coinciding with schools and colleges breaking up all around us and triggering the age old question of: ‘How are we going to make use of this?’
Below are some of the most exciting and original suggestions for spending the summer, whether it be in the company of friends, family or just on your company as chosen by experts in the field.
#1 Cook Everything Outside
Take advantage of the summer weather by cooking outside! Go beyond burgers on the grill. For healthier options, marinate chicken breast in nonfat Greek yogurt for at least 3 hours before grilling to tenderize and impart great flavor without the added fat. Or try grilling fish! Salmon is a great fish for grilling, because its higher fat content keeps it moist, and salmon tastes great with a smokey quality. Grilled vegetables like mushrooms, asparagus and bell pepper make a great light and healthy side.

#2 Tour Your Own Town/City
The summer is a popular time for travel and tourism, but it’s also a great time for you to experience things in your area that others are seeing and you have pushed off. Go to your local art museum, make a reservation at the most popular restaurant in town, or see the most popular historic sight.

#3 Hiking
The best way people can enjoy the summer weather is by hiking. This is a great way to relax and unwind while also checking out beautiful views. Hiking is also a great way to get exercise while spending time away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's a change from the typical noisy restaurant or bar environment, so you can spend quality time either alone or with family and friends.

#4 Summer Dog Walking
Summer is a great time to get outdoors and explore with your 4 legged pal. Be it the beach, the park, your favorite hiking trail, or even your local outdoor market. Why not challenge yourself to see your neighborhood from your dog’s perspective.

#6 Make Sno Balls
Everywhere else, they’re known as snowballs, but a true snow-ball is a delicious New Orleans treat you can make and enjoy at home! Shave ice and add a flavorful syrup. If you’re feeling like really indulging, add some sweetened condensed milk on top too.
