How to Host a Galentine’s Day Party in Six Easy Steps

For those who haven’t heard of the iconic holiday, Galentine’s Day is on February 13th. Established by Leslie Knope in the television series, Parks and Recreation, it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the wonderful women in your life right before you get swept up in love for your significant other. We’re here to guide you through “the best day of the year” with these six steps on how to host a Galentine’s Day party.

Step 1: Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

If you want to replicate Leslie’s iconic get-together, you’ll need to whip up a memorable brunch. From frittatas and French toast to donuts and Dutch baby pancakes, your gals are sure to love this delicious meal. Remember to complement the meal with mimosas or festive pink beverages.

For an alternative menu, you can always try an extravagant Italian dinner. Everybody can pitch in by bringing a delectable pasta dish—think gnocchi, lasagna, spaghetti, and stuffed shells. Serve with your favorite wine and you’re set for a fantastic night.

Are you throwing together a last-minute celebration? You can’t go wrong with a heart-shaped pizza and some brownies from your favorite pizza chain.

Step 2: Set the Scene

What’s a party without the decorations? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Adorn your table with foil-wrapped candies and pink place settings.
  • Buy some heart-shaped balloons.
  • Create an Instagram-worthy backdrop with fun garland and streamers.
  • Light a few candles—not because you want to be romantic, but because everybody loves a good scented candle.

Step 3: Dress Up—Or Down

If you’ve been dying for an occasion to wear your new show-stopping outfit, make your party a formal affair. But don’t feel like you have to get fancy—Galentine’s Day can also be celebrated in pajamas. After all, this event is all about you and your friends’ comfort.

Step 4: Bring Out the Chick Flicks

This joyous day is the perfect time to dust off of your favorite romantic films. Whether it’s A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, The Titanic (or all three) your party is an opportune moment to watch these tear-jerkers. There’s nothing like cozying up on your couch and watching a couple’s love blossom right before your eyes. Don’t forget the tissues!

Step 5: Put on A Playlist

Set the mood by blasting beloved bops by Britney Spears and Whitney Houston as your friends show up to celebrate. Have fun singing and dancing like nobody’s watching with your gal pals to hits by Beyoncé and Cher. A party isn’t a party without the music.

Step 6: Invite the Girls

The moment has arrived—it’s time to invite everybody over! We hope you and your besties enjoy spending some much-needed time together at your gathering of the century.
