If you’re looking for an excellent place for sightseeing, look no further than America’s capital. Washington, D.C. has some of the most iconic buildings and monuments in the world. While on your solo trip in D.C., spend a little quiet reflection time at the Lincoln Monument. Wander the world-famous National Mall, located in front of the Washington Monument, and walk in the footsteps of those who have used the area for both celebration and protest. While Washington, D.C. is mostly known for government buildings, you have to take in some of the local scenery and cuisine—make sure to stop by the Capitol Hill staple Mangialardo’s, for a “G” Man sub.
Oslo, Norway
Travel + Leisure ranks Norway as the number one country to visit solo. With its amazing safety and happiness rankings, Norway truly is one of the best destinations for solo travel. The country features terrific restaurants and outdoor attractions to keep you occupied. However, Norway has an attraction that sets it aside from most of the other countries in the world: the aurora borealis. The Northern Lights are the perfect way to begin or end a solo trip. Gaze up at the night sky and watch nature put on a light show that will rival any fireworks display.
