Vaping has become an increasingly popular activity, to the point that it can no longer be considered a fringe hobby. There have been a variety of surveys and polls that show there are millions of people who vape at least occasionally. While the activity seems to be more common among teenagers and young adults, that trend is changing as people who started vaping in their youth grow older.
Most people who vape have typically used marijuana or nicotine, but that trend is also starting to include cannabidiol (CBD). Its health and legal status are the main reasons why vaping CBD is becoming more common. Here are the basics you need to know before you try vaping CBD oil yourself.
What Is CBD?
Cannabidiol is a chemical that occurs naturally in cannabis plants. It is a cousin to THC, which is the chemical that is psychoactive and why marijuana is still illegal or restricted in many U.S. states. CBD will not make you feel high on its own, as it does not contain the psychoactive properties of THC.
The reason why CBD is becoming more popular as a health supplement and for vaping is because it offers many potential benefits for your health and well-being. It can help you sleep better, reduce nausea, relieve pain, and improve your mental health. As a supplement, it does not necessarily achieve dramatic results like a stronger medication would, but you can also purchase it without a prescription from your doctor.
Is CBD Safe?
One of the main reasons why vaping CBD oil is growing in popularity is because it is much safer to consume than nicotine. Products like the one found in Hemmfy’s CBD Vape Juice are not addictive, and don’t carry significant long-term health risks if you vape it for a long period of time. However, vaping itself still does carry some health risk due to the exposure of heat to your lungs and throat.
Is CBD Legal?
Another reason why vaping CBD is becoming more popular is because it is completely legal. Unlike marijuana and THC, it contains no psychoactive properties on its own. Even if you live in a state where THC is completely illegal, even for medical reasons, you can still get CBD and vape it and it will be completely legal. This is relatively recent, however, as two Farm Bills passed in 2014 and 2018 legalized it for the country and removed other restrictions associated with hemp and CBD, as long as it contains less than 0.3% THC.
What Kind of CBD Oil Can You Vape?
When you shop around for CBD oil to use with your vape, there are three kinds you should look out for.
- Full spectrum contains many other kinds of cannabinoids, including the potential for up to 0.3% THC
- Broad spectrum contains far fewer cannabinoids, including nothing but minute traces of THC
- Isolate contains zero other cannabinoids, including 0% THC
There are reasons why you may prefer using any of the different kinds of CBD, but there is no dramatic difference between them. Full spectrum CBD having other cannabinoids means you get the benefit of the entourage effect. On the other side of the spectrum, CBD isolate often comes in forms that are better for vaping and removes any potential for having THC in your system.
