Most people don’t realize that standard car warranties are severely lacking in the value of money that they offer. While the standard warranty may seem generous, the fact is those car companies are required by law to provide warranties on their cars. This is done to protect the consumer but the standard warranty offers very little protection, as we will see below.
INFINITI BASE WARRANTY
The Infiniti base warranty offers more than other car manufacturers in the different variety of coverage, but that does not come close to offering adequate protection. Your car will be covered for four years or 60000 miles, whichever comes first. Your car’s powertrain is covered for six years or 70000 miles, and your emission control is covered for five years or 50000 miles.
While not relevant to the direction of this article, you also have corrosion coverage for even years and your seat belts are covered for ten years with any mileage limitations in place.
For all intents and purposes, the above will seem extremely generous, but the problem comes up when you simply take a look at the numbers. Statistics tell us that most issues pertaining to critical components (engine, powertrain, and emission) come up after the 70000-mile mark. Repair costs for these components cost a small fortune (usually in the thousands) and finding a reliable mechanic is a nightmare.
INFINITI EXTENDED WARRANTY
More than 1,650 components are covered under the Infiniti extended warranty for up to eight years or 120000 miles, whichever comes first. Also included are a number of perks including roadside assistance, free towing, and car rental coverage. All these perks will be subject to limitations, but something is better than nothing.
PRICE AND VALUE FOR MONEY
Depending on the state and city the pertinent dealership is located in, the Infiniti extended warranty falls anywhere in the $1500 to $2000 range. Customers also have the option of availing a 0% interest financing option, under which they will have to pay monthly instalments for a period of up to 18 months. While the price may seem to be high, its peanuts compared to what you paid for the vehicle and spending a little more money to protect what you’ve already spent is worth it. Furthermore, the instalment plan makes it more affordable.
Beyond the price point though, one must also consider the value for money. Your stress levels would obviously much lower knowing that you have roadside assistance, free towing, and car rental coverage. Also, if your car does break down, you don’t have to worry about finding a reliable mechanic as you can drop it off at your nearest service centre where an authorized and trained mechanic will work on your car.
You’re also safe from any unexpected repair costs which, as we mentioned above, would be in the thousands. Your car’s resale value also significantly increases as potential buyers would be interested in the extended warranty and would also be assured that the car has been properly maintained by authoriz followed personnel at all times. All of these advantages most definitely make the extended Infiniti warranty worth it.
