From Kota Kinabalu you can take a day trip to the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary in Sandakan. Get the early morning flight, fly over the incredible Mount Kinabalu, and arrive in time for the morning Orangutan feed. You can then spend the day there before getting an evening flight back to Kota Kinabalu.
