Sights, Sounds and Smells (2/8)

There is a pulsating energy here that is not to be missed. Nothing prepares you for India; the sights, the sounds, the smells are a complete attack on your senses. The complexities and utter chaos are overwhelming; with a population of 1.3 billion, you can imagine the number of cars, rickshaws and motorcycles sharing the road with a vast community of cows.

It’s not unusual to see an occasional camel or horse pulling a cart either, but somehow it works. Sensory overload is a given, but once I looked past the chaos I found Jaipur to be as intoxicating as it was overwhelming.  Although this weather-beaten ‘pink city’ now glows in a soft shade of salmon, my visit was quite an enlightening experience which I’ll never forget. I found the people kind, the history fascinating, and the cultural landmarks inspiring.
