Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance By Robert Pirsig (1/22)

In essence, this book is a father-son cross-country motorcycle trip with one set of friends. Most of the story takes place in a first-person point-of-view.

This allows the narrator to do a few things: 1) tell the tale of the trip in real-time, 2) illuminate the person he used to be when he revisits places from his past, 3) reconciling the father-son relationship, and 4) his philosophical “Chautauqua” on motorcycle maintenance and quality (which is really the meat of the book’s popularity over decades).
