Theme Hospital

This product was recommended by Beth Noll from Gift Observer

This 90’s classic was a must-play for anyone interested in medicine or entrepreneurship. The simple to play yet challenging game allowed anyone to create their own hospital and try their best to meet those demanding inspector’s targets. One of the first games in the construction and management genre, this game is still as good today as when it first came out. With so many memorable things, from the large blob head patients to the funny voice-overs and funky music, this game should bring back lots of memories for any 90’s kid.

Monkey Island 2

This product was recommended by Eran Galperin from Martial Arts on Rails

Monkey Island 2 is a classic point-and-click adventure game from the golden age of the genre in the early 90s. It follows the story of a good-for-nothing pirate in the Caribbean, and his hunt for the legendary treasure of Big Whoop. With beautiful pixel graphics, a classic soundtrack and a ton of humour, it’s still considered one of the best adventure games of all time and is very easy to pick and play even today.

Diablo

This product was recommended by Joe Moran from Poplisticle

Diablo was a massive hit from day one becoming a top-selling game for the year 1997. It single-handedly ushered in the modern action RPG genre with amazing graphics and a hauntingly good musical score. There was nothing like it before, many tried to imitate it but none could capture the magic Diablo had. It was so easy to get lost in the fantasy world of Sanctuary and dungeon crawl for hours while scooping up that precious precious loot. This game was so popular that it has spawned two squeals over the years with Diablo 4 currently in the works.

Heroes of Might and Magic

This product was recommended by Bruno Brasil from Drawing Tablet World

Heroes of Might and Magic was my go-to game during the weekends whenever I had friends over. This is a medieval strategy game that is particularly fun in multiplayer mode. It consists of a hidden map that is revealed as the players move around in turns. Much like modern games, Heroes of Might and Magic also contains different civilizations that can be upgraded to enable the creation of different types of buildings and creatures. Although Heroes never really became mainstream, it has heavily influenced modern games and even after all these years has managed to maintain its appeal.

Stronghold Crusader

This product was recommended by Ali Tarek from Fishing Creative

The good thing about this game is that it’s very realistic and it depends greatly on tactics. You can have the strongest army and lose because you don’t play with a good tactic. It’s mindful. You can also play online and get the most enjoyment of it. While I think the oldest version is the best, there is still newer version that are coming even in 2021.

Gabriel Knight II: The Beast Within

This product was recommended by Emma Jackman from Emma Loves German

The Beast Within is a 1990’s PC game that is actually my favourite PC of all time. It’s an interactive movie style game that was very unusual because it was filmed in full motion video. It’s an action / adventure point and click game set in Munich, Germany, which centres around the main character, Gabriel Knight, whose task to investigate a mysterious wolf attack. More deaths are uncovered and Gabriel finds himself trying to track down not just a wolf, but a werewolf!

Cranium Game

This product was recommended by Peter Demings from Tennis Shoez

It is an all-in-one trivia game. It combines the elements of other famous games such as Pictionary, Charades, Scrabble and Rapidough. You never know what you’ll have to do on your turn. It is a great game for people who cannot decide which game to pick. It’s easy and fun to play.

Quake

This product was recommended by Sandra Blair from CoffeeShan

It was an upgraded version of Doom. It was set Medieval times with better 3D graphics. It also supported 8-player mode instead of the existing 4-player modes. It is said that this game is responsible for shaping the current games. I used to play this game with my friends and it was so fun. I given a chance, I would still play this game instead of the games that are available today in the market.

Day of the Tentacle

This product was recommended by Stefan Cordova from FriendWithA

Day of the Tentacle is an awesome adventure game and the sequel to classic single player game Maniac Mansion (1987). Who doesn’t love a multiple protagonist comedy game that’s family friendly with an evil (purple) tentacle planning on taking over the world? It’s a fun point and click that has as much challenge as entertainment. Change between weird looking medical student Laverne, Wayne’s World doppleganger Hoagie and Buddy Holly lookalike Bernard Bernoulli as they travel from past and the future via Chron-O-John time machines in order to prevent Dr. Fred’s killing of innocent tentacles and the ruling of the country by evil tentacles in the future. The music is also great. A remastered version has recently been released making the graphics look more vibrant than ever.

Gran Turismo

This product was recommended by David Johnson from BarbecueLogic

I used to play Gran Tourismo back in the 90’s when the first pc version of the game came out. I love racing games but this game piques my interest the most. I remember beating my old friends in a race back then.

X-Com: UFO Defense

This product was recommended by Joe Flanagan from 90s Fashion World

This is one of my absolute favorite pc games of the 90s. It is a 1994 science fiction strategy video game developed by Mythos Games and MicroProse. It is all about hoy you handle your squadron tacitly to save the Earth from aliens. It is one of the games that started the whole concept of strategic tactic games. Definitely worth a try! I treasure the hours of spent playing it and you can play the subsequent games that have come out, right until this day inside the same franchise. Hours of gaming await you!
