Alienware m17 R4 Gaming Laptop

This product was recommended by Daniel from Dear White

While a bit older, this beast still has more than enough power for what most editors would need. The machine is able to easily handle editing 2k footage until you start piling on a crazy amount of sfx/layers. With a 17 inch screen there’s plenty of real estate for video editing work too. The biggest bonus I’ve found is that it has not overheated even a single time in the many years I’ve used it. I’ve tried newer similar and sometimes even better laptops since having this beast thinking that I’d make the switch but sure enough, they all heat up 10-30 minutes into the editing process and everything slows right down. The only downside is the size and weight of this thing but that can also be considered a bonus. A lot of the time I’ll be editing in cafes as a destination wedding video/photographer and have been a nice conversation started wow that thing is big!, yap I’m a wedding photography/videography and it serves me well. Have even been able to pick up a client this way 😛

Acer Aspire 5 Slim Laptop

This product was recommended by Ahmed Mir from Sip Coffee House

I can say this is the best budget laptop for video editing since it is super fast and reliable. Considering the price of this laptop, it is worth it for the performance of this device. I have previously used an HP all-in-one computer a year ago and it is so slow. Then I bought this Acer Aspire 5 Slim laptop and I got an amazing computer that is faster than I could have ever imagined. It’s also one of the best gaming laptops under $500 on this list. I use this for basic computer needs at home like using MS offices, surfing, and editing. This computer handles all well very smoothly.

Lenovo – IdeaPad L340 Gaming Laptop

This product was recommended by Veronica Fernandes from Creative Media Technology

What makes this product a perfect choice for running video editing apps: Lenovo IdeaPad is a budget-friendly laptop under $1000. What makes Lenovo IdeaPad L340 a perfect reasonable option for running video editing applications is it’s 8GB RAM, 256 GB hard-drive, Core i5 Processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics, and a 15.6” Full HD display.

Razer Blade 15 Base Gaming Laptop

This product was recommended by Utsav Gohil from Camera Suggest

If you need a laptop that can offer better performance while working on multiple software open at a time, then Razer Blade 15 is the best choice to buy. People are using various editing software (such as Adobe After effects, Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve, and many more) to edit photography videos, gaming videos, etc. If we take Adobe After Effects, the most popular editing software, it takes up to 4 to 5 GB RAM. Also, If you use Google Chrome to find an additional source that makes the video even better, it uses extra memory (RAM). In this case, it increases your video rendering time and slows the laptop performance, or even sometimes the software may crash. I suggest this laptop because it comes with a 6-Core 10th Gen i7-10750H of processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphic card, and 16GB DDR4 RAM. This laptop helps you to perform multitasking at a time. It offers excellent performance while editing videos, photos, and even searching for the best source on the internet.

ASUS ZenBook UX330UA-AH54 13.3-inch LCD Ultra-Slim Laptop

This product was recommended by Eric Angerer from EZMoments

As a freelance photographer/videographer, a reliable computer is imperative for my success. Although I do now have the latest and greatest, Macbook Air, I was using a budget laptop that did perform it’s job very well. This budget laptop I’m talking about is the Asus UX330U It’s not the easiest laptop to find but it does its job pretty well for what it is. If you can’t get your hands on that one (discontinued I believe), the successor, UX330UA is another amazing option:

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i 15 Gaming Laptop

This product was recommended by Bertie Cowan from Effortless Outdoors

If you are looking for a good budget laptop for video editing, my advice is to go with a gaming laptop. Gaming laptops have a pretty decent display which is good enough to get through some of the most meticulous of tasks. A laptop for a fraction of the price that does the job credibly is a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i 15 Gaming Laptop. The battery life is pretty decent for the price and the reason I love this laptop for video editing is for the amazing graphics. The only negative for me with this laptop is that it heats up, however, using a cooling pad sorts the issue right out.
