The report is in, and remote work is here to stay. Actually, there really is a report from Buffer and its partners that concludes that the trend of remote work is stronger than ever and beginning to look permanent. Not only do a huge number of employees currently spend at least some time each week working remotely, but this report found that 99 percent of people studied indicated that they would like to incorporate some remote work into their schedule, which 95 percent said they recommended remote work to others. While many benefits were listed and verified, the most prominent benefit was flexibility for the workers.
The study found that while employees were typically using their home internet or that of coffee shops and co-working spaces to complete their work, employers were rarely contributing to the associated fees. In addition to suggesting that employers help compensate employees for the money they spend getting connected, many point out remote workers need the additional support of high-quality tools for remote work. It isn’t enough to ensure that a remote employee is properly compensated. It is just as vital that they can complete their work in an efficient manner, without the headaches of poor connectivity and incomplete access to needed documents that are all too common. With workers around the world hoping to incorporate remote work and employers enjoying increased productivity, appropriate compensation and internet-based tools are a must in this brave new work landscape.
