You’re both willing to put in a similar about of effort (time, communication, therapy, sex talk) to make it work. Relationships require work. If one of you believes that fate will carry you through to happily ever after and the other believes that you need to formally invest in the relationship (e.g. take courses, formalize conversations, discuss needs and boundaries), you’re probably not going to stand the test of time.
